Cyber Bite Vampires
Origin Story
Cyber Bite Vampires came from something much more personal than simply wanting to create a vampire universe. The project grew from a long-standing fascination with punk and gothic aesthetics, combined with a personal connection to the idea of vampires. Its creator was born with fairly prominent natural fangs, which often led people to jokingly call him a vampire whenever he smiled. Interestingly, his father had the same nickname when he was younger, although his fangs were even more pronounced. Over time, the idea simply stayed with him and eventually became one of the starting points for the universe.
When he was 19, during what he now refers to as his NFT era, the first version of Cyber Bite Vampires began to take shape. He wanted to explore the idea of vampires through an original project and created three characters who would eventually become Evolis, Orion, and Dorothy. At the time, Cyber Bite Vampires existed only as a collection of early concepts and character designs. When the NFT market collapsed, the project was never released, and the material was archived while attention shifted to other projects. The idea, however, never completely disappeared.
After finishing school, another character named Squid was created as part of a school tradition where graduating students create something of their own for the final school event. Originally, Squid was simply a joke. The name came from a variation of Elmar’s own name, Elmar Squidmar, while the character’s appearance was inspired by his classic gothic aesthetic and the clothes he wore when he was 18. At that point, Squid had no particular meaning beyond the original joke.
A few years later, at the age of 21, Cyber Bite Vampires was brought back to life with a much larger ambition. The project was no longer intended to be simply another vampire story, but the beginning of an original mythology. Together with his artist, the world was rebuilt from the ground up, including its characters, personalities, motivations, relationships, visual identities, and mythology. The original three characters, Evolis, Orion, and Dorothy, became the starting point, while others were introduced as the world expanded and new stories emerged. Each character was developed with their own personality, motivations, perspective, and place within the larger story.
Part of the creative process was influenced by personal experiences, observations, and people encountered throughout life. A particular personality trait, emotion, habit, situation, or relationship dynamic could become a starting point for an idea before developing into something entirely fictional. This approach was also strongly influenced by an interest in psychology, particularly the reasons behind human behavior, decision-making, relationships, and the different ways people can perceive the same situation. These observations became one of the tools used to develop the characters and their conflicts.
Some elements were especially personal. A close friendship that began in childhood later influenced certain emotions, dynamics, and situations within the relationship between Dorothy and Evolis. At the same time, the two characters are not copies of their creator or anyone from his life. Their personalities, stories, and circumstances are fundamentally their own. Familiar emotions and situations simply provided material to explore through fictional characters.
Squid eventually became something completely different from the character originally created for the school event. When Cyber Bite Vampires was revived, Squid’s role was completely reimagined, with a new philosophy and a connection to the way reality itself can change within the world.
Squid’s visual language also draws from childhood. The television associated with the character is based on a real television from Elmar’s childhood. It was something he watched when he was young, making the television and tapes more than an aesthetic reference to the past. They are connected to a genuine feeling of childhood and nostalgia, which gradually became part of Squid’s identity.
Squid loves jokes and enjoys playing tricks on other characters. Dorothy and Evolis share a similar sense of play, so their encounters can become elaborate competitions of pranks. Squid can also create tapes that temporarily alter reality around the characters. As long as a tape remains active, the changes it creates continue to exist.
Behind this playful side of Squid is an idea drawn from personal experience. Life can sometimes place people in situations they never chose or expected, and their meaning may not become clear until much later. Some difficult or unexpected experiences can eventually provide valuable lessons, change the way a person sees people and life, and contribute to personal growth. Squid represents this side of life: the unexpected circumstances that force people to experience something, gain a new perspective, and change. The pranks, tapes, and ability to alter reality are therefore connected to a deeper idea about how unexpected experiences can shape who someone becomes.
Squid is also curious about their own nature, origin, and place within the world. The character was never intended to be simply good or evil. Squid can appear fair, playful, or act with good intentions, while at other times seeming harsh. The consequences of those actions can be positive, complicated, or difficult for other characters to understand.
Cyber Bite Vampires was never intended to simply take the traditional concept of vampires and place it into a different setting. The mythology explores where vampirism comes from, why it exists, what it means to those who live with it, and where it ultimately leads. The intention is for the mythology to have its own beginning, development, and end, while allowing the world to be revealed through different perspectives. Different characters can carry different parts of its history, beliefs, and experiences, allowing the larger mythology to unfold gradually through the people who live within it.
The universe is also designed to be told through different formats. The main mythology and key events will be explored through films that gradually reveal the history and lore of the world, while individual characters can have their own stories and formats. Dorothy and Evolis, for example, will be the central characters of Cyber Bite Vampires: 2 Sinners Adventures, a separate series focused on their adventures, relationship, and the events they experience within the world. This allows the larger mythology to be explored on one level while individual characters and their lives can receive deeper attention through another.
What once began with three vampire concepts during the NFT era, a drawing for a school event, and a character created as a joke eventually developed into something much larger. Cyber Bite Vampires brought together dark aesthetics, mythology, psychology, philosophy, character-driven storytelling, nostalgia, and ideas drawn from observations of life, turning them into the foundation of a complete fictional universe.
Today, Cyber Bite Vampires is being developed as a universe with its own mythology, characters, history, visual identity, and philosophy. The project has grown far beyond its earliest concepts, while many of those original ideas remain part of its foundation.
Cyber Bite Vampires represents an attempt to rethink the idea of the vampire from its very foundation rather than simply continue an existing mythology. It has grown into a world where different ideas, experiences, characters, and perspectives can come together and be explored through fiction.
